WebJan 27, 2011 · This is a rod that needs a physical inspection and the pictures tell us only part of the story. Jeff is right on about the weight of the rod. also the heavier the rod is the less appeal to the fisher - collector. Like in double shotguns a handy little 20 gauge or a big heavy 10 gauge. WebFor sale here is a Hawes bamboo fly rod. Eight and a half feet in length, three sections with two tips. The rod weighs 4 1/4 oz and casts a five weight line nicely. WebJun 9, 2005 · An 8 ft 3piece Hawes. Made for A&F It is a fine rod, I know it is not very common. Would put the casting between my F.E. Thomas 8 ft and my Chubb 8 ft. Not a fast rod, but very forgiving and will set a fly down on a china plate with out a bounce. I would also like to know who has a Hawes rod.
